SNAP Online Pro-Tips

Pro-Tip #1

Most of Amazon’s fresh grocery options, such as fresh fruits and vegetables, are only available through the Amazon Fresh service, which unfortunately does not reach all regions. You can check if Amazon Fresh is not available in your zipcode if:

  • when you select Amazon Fresh from the page pictured to the left, you see this message (shown below) in the upper left corner of your screen:

  • or, when you search for items in the searchbar, you will see no product options labelled as Amazon Fresh

If Amazon Fresh does not deliver to your zipcode, check out the other SNAP online retailers in your state to see which offer online fresh grocery delivery! If you live within 9 miles of a Walmart store that offers delivery, they most likely reach you.

Pro-Tip #2

There are a couple different ways of getting to the grocery shopping pages using Amazon:

  • What our guides show: from the screen with squares for Amazon Fresh and Amazon (pictured above to the left), you can opt for Amazon Fresh or regular Amazon.

  • Alternatively, you can also just type the name of the grocery item you want, right into the search bar. You’ll be shown food options from regular Amazon and Amazon Fresh side by side (if your zipcode receives Amazon Fresh). Whole Foods and Bristol Farms products may appear, but you cannot use SNAP to purchase them. Look for products with the SNAP EBT Eligible label.

When buying nonperishable items, there are pros and cons of Amazon vs. Amazon Fresh in terms of discounts, product pricing, and delivery fees. Read up on the differences here, to scout out the best deals.
